Opportunity: Teaching Artist with 3GT’s GirlWrights Program
3Girls Theatre Company (3GT) seeks a teaching artist to assist with our GirlWrights writing workshop and personal development program, a playwriting and personal development workshop series for girls aged 11-15 who don’t have regular access to performance storytelling programming and education. GirlWrights is free for participants, and is part of 3GT’s broader mission to support the female voice and creative vision on stage. Our goal is to amplify the voices of young women who might otherwise not be heard and develop self-esteem among the girls by providing opportunities to utilize the personal and creative voice, and channeling that process through developing short plays that reflect their lives, dreams, and their own personal brand of performance based storytelling!
Primary Responsibilities:

- Assist Program Director with running playwriting workshops for young ladies (ages 11-15) on Saturdays throughout the months of September-November 2020.
- Create / Incorporate your own lesson plans based on the GirlWrights writing themes.
- Encourage girls to find their creative voices and share their stories with the community
- Support the girls in developing their sense of self esteem and confidence through the creative process.
- Maintain social distance and hygiene best practices during any in-person workshops and or meetings.
Qualifications:

- Experience teaching / leading (or assisting with) writing or theatre workshops for young people
- Experience working with young women, particularly those from underserved communities
- Flexibility to quickly re-adjust lesson plans to meet young writers where they are
- Enthusiasm for performance-based story telling and personal wellbeing and the ability to inspire that enthusiasm in others
- Ability to pass a background check (Livescan)
- Knowledge of hygiene and social distancing best practices related to the current COVID19 pandemic
- Experience as a working playwright is a huge plus!
This position is directly supervised by 3GT’s GirlWrights Program Director, Sierra Gonzalez. We can offer a stipend of $300/workshop per 3 hr workshop, stipend fee is inclusive of all planning and set up. In-person workshops will take place in a public park in San Francisco, and Oakland exact location TBD. Online workshops will be remote. Stipend may vary depending on workshop time.
