Jim Norrena is many things — photographer, editor, instructor, writer — but deep down he’s just a playwright at heart. Since earning his MFA at California College of the Arts (where he’s also the college’s web editor and content manager), several short-length plays had their “world premiere” here in the Bay Area.
Currently hard at work on two — no, make that three — full-length plays, Jim hopes all of them will see the light of day before he goes down for good.
Jim likes to sit, too. He sits on several boards: Playwrights Center of San Francisco, Bay Area Editors’ Forum, and the Mary Sidney Society (stay clear if you don’t like the Shakespeare Authorship question).
Jim is fortunate enough to have two interests that work well together: theater and photography.
In addition to 3 Girls Theatre Company, other dramatic clients include Central Works, Wiley West Productions, Playwrights Center for San Francisco, We Players, Berkeley Rep, Playwrights Foundation, PlayGround, and he hopes many, many more.
His motto: “If they won’t stage my plays, I shoot them.”
Now that there’s nothing left to read, check out his theater photography . . . and like him on Facebook!
