Pamela S. Peniston, a co-founder of Queer Cultural Center (Qcc), served initially as Qcc’s Executive Director in 1998 and most recently Artistic Director; as such, she has lead curated 18 National Queer Arts Festivals, commissioned more than 150 individual artists to create new work, presented more than 2050 artists in the Festival and other events and helped develop Qcc’s fiscal sponsorship & arts service program, Creating Queer Community.
Prior to Qcc, Peniston designed sets for National and Bay Area theatrical and dance companies and received gold medals from the Broadcast Design Association for her Art Direction. In San Francisco, she continues to work with Cultural Odyssey and their Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women as their designer.
She also served on the City’s Cultural Affairs Task Force during the early 90’s, which created the Cultural Equity Initiatives and Individual Artists grants.
